Why Calculativa

The gaps between systems are where numbers go wrong

When your accountant, your software vendor and your reporting tool are three separate relationships, nobody owns the space between them. That space is where breaks, duplicates and unexplained variances accumulate.

How we work

We build it and we run it

Software vendors hand you a licence and leave. Accounting firms work inside whatever tools you already have. We do both — which means nobody gets to blame the other side when a number is wrong.

Automation with accountable review

Software does the repetitive work; qualified people own the judgement calls and sign off on what is filed. Neither runs without the other.

One governed source, end to end

The ledger, the integrations and the reporting layer are designed together. That removes the handover points where financial data normally drifts out of agreement.

Built for cross-border operations

Multi-entity, multi-currency and multi-jurisdiction work is our default case, not an exception that requires a special quote.

Integrations

The systems we connect

We integrate the tools your finance team already relies on, then normalise all of them into one governed data model. No re-keying, one version of every figure.

Questions

Straight answers

If something you need to know is not covered here, ask us directly — we will answer it in writing.

What exactly does Calculativa do?

We are a financial software company. We build and operate systems that automate corporate accounting, connect the tools a finance team already uses, and turn financial data into management reporting. The software is delivered as a managed service, which means a named team configures it, supervises it and is accountable for the output.

Do you process payments or handle client money?

No. Calculativa is not a payment institution, a payment processor or a money services business. We do not hold, transmit or hold title to client funds, and we do not provide merchant acquiring. We read bank statement data where a client authorises it, purely to reconcile their own ledger — which is standard accountancy work, not payment processing.

Are you a software vendor or a service provider?

Both, deliberately. Buying software alone leaves you to operate it; buying a service alone leaves you paying people to do work a system should do. We license our platform and staff the review layer on top of it, under one contract and one point of accountability.

What type of businesses do you work with?

Established companies with real operational complexity — typically multi-entity groups, cross-border businesses, and firms preparing for audit, financing or expansion into a new market.

Do you replace our internal finance team?

Usually we complement it. A common arrangement is that we own the transactional and compliance layer — ledger, reconciliation, filings, payroll — while your team keeps commercial and strategic finance. The split is agreed explicitly during scoping.

How is our financial data protected?

Data is held under role-based access control with least-privilege permissions, encrypted in transit and at rest, retained according to a documented schedule, and covered by contractual confidentiality. Access is limited to the named team assigned to your engagement. As a Malta-registered company we process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Can you work with our existing accounting software?

Yes. We integrate with your existing systems where they are fit for purpose and recommend migration only when the current setup actively blocks accurate reporting. Any migration is planned, tested and reconciled before cutover.

Which jurisdictions can you support?

We are headquartered in Malta and work across the EU and selected international markets. Jurisdictional coverage is confirmed during scoping, including whether local statutory filings are handled directly by us or through a licensed local partner.

How do engagements start?

With a scoping conversation. We review your structure, obligations and current pain points, then return a written proposal setting out scope, deliverables, service levels and fees. Nothing is charged before that proposal is agreed.
